Ember Vow
★★★★★ 4.5
Ember Vow is the kind of RPG I didn't expect to lose an evening to on a phone. You play a wandering courier who gets pulled into a slow-burning conflict between two fading cities, and the writing is genuinely good — characters remember what you said three chapters ago.
Combat is turn-based but keeps things moving with a timing meter that rewards well-placed hits. Party management matters more than raw stats; I rebuilt my whole team halfway through once I understood how the elemental pairings worked. The difficulty curve is fair, with optional harder fights for people who want them.
My one gripe is that the auto-save can be stingy before big decisions, so save manually when a conversation feels important.

- Writing that respects your choices
- Satisfying timing-based combat
- Deep but readable party building
