Keeping the council happy in Tide and Throne
The hardest part of Tide and Throne isn't the economy — it's the council. Every advisor wants resources pointed their way, and the game is designed so you can never fully satisfy all of them at once.
After a couple of failed campaigns, I learned to aim for balance rather than loyalty. Keep each advisor at a mild grumble instead of letting one become thrilled while another plots against you.
Watch the friction meter closely. When two advisors turn on each other, your trade efficiency drops, and a wobbling economy at sea is very hard to recover.
I also recommend expanding slowly. New islands add new demands, and overreaching early is the fastest way to lose a game that otherwise gives you plenty of time to think.
